  • Q.When I click on a link I get a page that reads "Security Violation"?
  • A.There are a number of reasons this may occur:
    • 1.You are using an outdated web browser. If this is the case, you can simply upgrade your browser to the latest version. Upgrade Internet Explorer here.

    • 2.You may be using a proxy server. If you find yourself using a proxy server, you can adjust the settings of your browser to avoid this. See your browser's documentation.

    • 3.You may be behind a firewall. If you are behind a firewall, you will need to configure the firewall to allow access to the web site you are trying to view.

  • Q.Why am I having problems viewing pictures in AOL?
  • A.AOL comes pre-configured to compress images in web pages. Authors of web pages have already taken special care to ensure that images are highly compressed and are of good quality. To remove AOL's (unnecessary) compression, do the following
    • 1. From the AOL program, Click on "Members".

    • 2. Select the "Preferences" menu.

    • 3. Click on "Uncompressed Graphics".

    • 4. Click on the "Advanced" section.

    • 5. click on "purge cache".

  • Q.How can I improve the quality of video?
  • A.In most cases, poor video or audio quality is due to low bandwidth. You should have at least a 56k dial-up modem to view streaming video. You can press the pause button on your media player while the video is downloading. This will tell the player to wait until more of the video is put on your hard drive before playing it. Playing a video from your hard drive is almost always faster then viewing directly from the web.
  • Q.The audio sounds choppy, what can I do?

  • A.When viewing a video stream with sound, if there is not enough bandwidth for both the video and audio then the video will take precedence. To get better performance, make sure you are using at least a 56k dial-up modem. Use DSL or cable modem if possible.
